Are we responsible parents?
When I was young, my mother used to say while comparing with one neighboring kid, he will become engineer and you will become clerk. Neither he is engineer today nor I am clerk.
Are we as parents capable enough to decide our child career?
Are we misleading them or really guiding them?
How much we are sure about the future of any career while suggesting the same to our child?
Is it too much guidance and pressure destroying natural skills of child which may lead him better than invalidated guidance?
Francis Galton was the first person to identify "nature" and "nurture" as two separate influences whose effects could be measured and compared, maintaining that these two elements alone were responsible for determining personality.
Nature is what one got inborn and inherited and Nurture is what learned from experiences since birth and onwards.
Do we ever thought of any method or tools which can measure what a child can do best and what as parents we could do better to develop a career around that?
While suggesting a career how many times we thought of their happiness which as parents should be our main priority.
As parents, we should consider multiple factors before actually suggesting a course and career for our child.
Research and theories says, Aptitude, Personality and Interests together could give us an idea of what course and career best suit any child. Many good career counselling groups developed their tools around many psychological theories which will facilitate parents to know the traits of their child which could give them a better idea and help those taking nearly correct decisions.
To conclude, a hit and trial may cause more harm to your child than good. As good parents, first analyze their capabilities and what they are good at, and then try to see the best possible career that you could suggest to them.
Someone said so correctly, “Find out what you like doing best and get someone to pay you for doing it.”
You will find happiness in your work and motivate to work in your regular routine job.
