What is most important for cracking a tough entrance exam?

What is most important for cracking a tough entrance exam?

You are right, hard work and study. But these are just two parameters that play only a 70% role in the success.

Then what about the rest, 30%? Maybe some magic or luck.

Do you ever thought about or re-visit the movie "Super 30"?

They were good students, so only they got selected as 30 students, but then what happened?

Remember, in coaching institutes, the majority of the batches they just teach, and a few which they identified as core batches, they teach plus they coach. That's what happened in Super 30.

Right teaching will provide you with knowledge, but the right coaching will help you understand how to apply that knowledge. Most institutes today named them as coaching institutes but they are not in the real sense and hence students become the sufferer.

Even if you are studying in any big institute, it doesn't matter. Don't go for big hoardings or banners about their success. Those will not work for you. Don't completely rely on them.

You need to frame your strategy considering your strengths and weaknesses.

Today, SUCCESS = SMART STUDY + RIGHT STRATEGY +  CORRECT PLANNING USING TIMELINE

Also, remember, REVISION is the key to success. Whether you are a bright student or weak, it doesn't matter. Our internal brain, neurons, and retrieval methods work similarly for all of us.

Whether we realize it or not, every 48 to 72 hours, if we do not revise, we forget a good percentage of what we saw or heard.

Research on the forgetting curve shows that people will have forgotten an average of 50 percent of the information you presented within one hour. Within 24 hours, they have forgotten an average of 70 percent of new information, and within a week, forgetting claims an average of 90 percent of it. Every 7th day, try to revise formulas, definitions, do some random questions, etc.

So if you are planning to appear for any entrance exam and want to crack it, as the first step, make a well-formed plan and associate a timeline and strategy to it. Then start and remember consistency and resilience are the protective covering for your effort and dream. So the second step is to be consistent and resilient. And the third step is always to stay positive and keep yourself motivated.

Always remember five things,

• It doesn't matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.

• The best way to predict your future is to create it.

• Nothing is tough if you divide it into small jobs.

• The most significant barrier to success is the fear of failure.

• People do not lack strength. They lack will.
